As the Development Director at Orchard, I spend a good portion of my time thinking of ways to inspire more people to support our work. I think about the consulting hours we provide, the number of projects we’ve completed for our Partners and other statistics. It can be easy to lose sight of real people impacted by our work. But every time I sit with the Orchard Partners team and hear the stories of how God is using Orchard to impact our Partners, I am filled with joy!

I want to share some inspiring stories of the impact your donations have made possible. Your generosity has enabled us to make a real difference in the lives of the brave leaders we serve, and we are grateful for your ongoing support.

One recent success story near and dear to my heart is that of Wanda Jones. After the tragic death of her son Ahmaud Arbery, who was murdered while out for a run, she established the Ahmaud Arbery Foundation to honor his memory. Running had been a safe place for Ahmaud, and Wanda wanted to create a foundation that would honor his memory and continue his legacy by promoting a path to mental and physical wellness for Black boys. With Orchard’s help, she has rebuilt her Board, established a core team, and gained the confidence and skills she needs to continue growing her Foundation and positively impact her community. In May of this year, they hosted the first annual “Run with Maud” 5K, in which 2300 participants ran in honor of Ahmaud! I’m excited to share more about her and a few other Partners on the following pages.
